Barbara Shoup
Executive Director

Barbara Shoup is the author of six novels and co-author of two books about the creative process. Her short fiction, poetry, essays, and interviews have appeared in numerous small magazines, as well as in The Writer and The New York Times Travel Section. Her young adult novels, Wish You Were Here and Stranded in Harmony were selected as American Library Association Best Books for Young Adults. Vermeer's Daughter was a School Library Journal Best Adult Book for Young Adults. She is the recipient of numerous grants from the Indiana Arts Council, two creative renewal grants from the Arts Council of Indianapolis, and the 2006 PEN Phyllis Naylor Working Writer Fellowship. In addition to her work at the Writers' Center of Indiana, Indiana, she is an associate faculty member at Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis and the University of Indianapolis, and an associate editor with OV Books. Her most recent novel, Everything You Want, was published in 2008.

Lyn Jones
Educational Outreach Director

Darolyn "Lyn" Jones is the Educational Outreach Director of the Writers’ Center of Indiana, where she facilitates several urban outreach writing programs including Girls in Prison Speak, Sitting at the Feet of our Elders at Flanner House, Recording War Memories, and Special Needs Moms Writing. Lyn is passionate about literacy and has devoted her personal and professional life to teaching and writing with writers in secondary schools, in community centers, and in adult education centers. Lyn has a Bachelor of Arts in English Secondary Education, a Master’s Degree in Language and Literacy, and is working on her doctorate in Adult, Higher, and Community Education. She is the author of the book Painless Reading Comprehension and several articles and has presented at 45 local and national conferences devoted to literacy.

Roxanna Santoro
Programs Administrator

Roxanna Santoro came to the Writers’ Center of Indiana with twenty-five years of management and office management experience in workplaces as diverse as an information-based fulfillment house that served such clients as PBS and the Discovery Channel to a private franchise cable television company serving a twelve-state region.  When she's not working at the Writers' Center, Roxanna is an award-winning silversmith and jewelry designer, the owner of Abraxas Designs, and a faculty member at the Indianapolis Art Center.  You can see her work at art fairs across the Midwest.
