Scrivener is a powerful tool that allows you to create a complete work environment for almost any kind of writing (novel, short story, nonfiction book, etc.). Whether you are new to Scrivener or have been utilizing a few of its features, this class will take a hands-on approach and help you shorten your learning curve and get you up to speed in using the software faster and with less frustration. The class will include using Scrivener for planning your writing project, organizing your project and research, writing and editing your text, and preparing your manuscript for submission or self-publishing. If you are new to the software, this course will give you a jump start on the tool. If you have been using Scrivener for only the basics, this course will help you make better use of its full potential.
Since this is a hands-on class, you will need to bring a laptop with Scrivener installed. If you have not already purchased a copy of Scrivener, a free 30-day trial is available from https://www.literatureandlatte.com/scrivener.php. If you are new to Scrivener, please confirm that it has been installed correctly by simply clicking on the icon and making sure it opens. Please bring a copy of your work in progress (WIP). This can be something that you have started in Scrivener, MS Word, or another supported document format (e.g.RTF, TXT, etc.). We will utilize your WIP during the class.
Note that Scrivener for Mac is slightly different than Scrivener for Windows. If you are running Windows, you may see a few differences as we work through the Mac version of Scrivener. I will have a list of the differences with me in case any issues arise.
