Join us at the Indiana State Library when Indiana's best established and emerging writers will meet for a full day of classes on the writing craft. Featuring a keynote address and master class from award winning author Ross Gay, and breakout sessions in poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, and playwriting presented by Callista Buchen, Thomas Chiarella, Chris Forhan, Kate Gehan, Allyson Horton, Angela Jackson-Brown, Noley Reid, and Chris White. You’ll leave full of inspiration, armed with writing drafts ripe for experimentation—along with a hundred other writers who feel the same way.
Ross Gay is the author of three books: Against Which; Bringing the Shovel Down; and Catalog of Unabashed Gratitude, winner of the 2015 National Book Critics Circle Award and the 2016 Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award. Catalog was also a finalist for the 2015 National Book Award in Poetry, the Ohioana Book Award, the Balcones Poetry Prize, the Hurston-Wright Legacy Award, and it was nominated for an NAACP Image Award. The Book of Delights, is forthcoming from Algonquin Press in February 2019.
The master class is a three-hour generative workshop with National Book Award Nominee Ross Gay on the afternoon of the Gathering, to be held at the same as the afternoon breakout sessions. You must register in advance to attend, and all master class registrations include registration for the Gathering of Writers.
