Sometimes it's just good to get back to the basics and discuss, in depth, the component parts of prose. A lot of us get bogged down in the task of transmuting our own ideas into narrative, believing that complete stories just fall out of us after repeated invocations to the muse.

This is the first part of two generative workshops that hope to demystify the process of story-making from the ground up by devoting a lot of studio time for creating content, as well as peer-to-peer discussion.

March 18 will focus on the craft elements of character, setting, plot and dialogue.

March 25 will focus on Language, Style, Voice and Point of View, and using Symbolism in your writing.

While each of these courses function as stand-alone sessions, they are meant to be linked as a way to hopefully generate the first draft of a story, chapter, or at least the beginning of a project. Participants interested in all forms of narrative, at all levels of experience, are welcome.
