Fiction asks us to capture an audience. Nonfiction asks us to capture ourselves. Flash (non)fiction asks us to do so with just a few valuable words: this workshop will challenge us to tell a compelling story with just a snapshot—in a single lightning strike. Participants will warm up with prompted writing exercises and then revise their writing with help from Dinty Moore’s The Rose Metal Press Field Guide to Writing Flash Nonfiction, examples from Melissa Cistaro, and advice from Brevity, an online magazine of flash creative writing—all before discovering resources for where to submit their flashwork.
