03/03 Indiana Writes featuring Dheepa Maturi

Previously known as our monthly member meetings, the Indiana Writers Center is happy to announce a new literary series: Indiana Writes, which will feature emerging and established writers from all around the state of Indiana. These events will focus on a wide variety of topics like discussion on craft, process, and publication, and can involve readings, writing exercises, interviews, and Q&As depending on the featured speaker. Dheepa will read from her recently published book, 108: an Eco-Thriller, and looks forward to sharing the trials, tricks, and tools on the road to completing a first novel.

About the Instructor:

Dheepa R. Maturi
is a New York-born, Midwest-raised Indian-American writer who explores the intersections of culture, identity, and ecology, as well as the impacts of and antidotes to ecological grief. Her essays, poetry, and fiction have appeared in numerous literary journals and anthologies, including Literary Hub, PANK, Hippocampus, The Fourth River, and Sequestrum. Her work has been nominated twice for the Pushcart Prize, and she is the author of the bestselling novel 108: an Eco-Thriller, published by GFB Press in June 2025. 108 is the recipient of three American Book Fest Awards, in the Cross-Genre, Multicultural, and Visionary Fiction divisions. It is also a finalist for the IAN Book Award in Multicultural Fiction and the Chanticleer Global Thriller Book Award.

In the past, Dheepa has worked as a lawyer, entrepreneur, and education grant director. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan and the University of Chicago and now lives with her family in Indianapolis. To learn more, visit DheepaRMaturi.com.
