Flying Island is the online literary journal of the Indiana Writers Center accepting submissions from Midwest residents and those with significant ties to the Midwest.

Starting in January 2021, Flying Island will publish a new online edition of four to eight new pieces of poetry and prose on the last Friday of every month. We are in search of:

• Fiction: up to 5,000 words
• Nonfiction: up to 3,500 words
• Poetry: up to three poems, no more than 50 lines each.

Submissions for the Flying Island are through our Submittable portal only. We are unable to accept postal or email submissions at this time, and any submissions received in the mail or by email will be discarded. The small submission fee ($2.50) will be used to cover the costs of the Submittable platform.
