06/02 Indiana Writes featuring Chantel Massey

Previously known as our monthly member meetings, the Indiana Writers Center is happy to announce a new literary series: Indiana Writes, which will feature emerging and established writers from all around the state of Indiana. These events will focus on a wide variety of topics like discussion on craft, process, and publication, and can involve readings, writing exercises, interviews, and Q&As depending on the featured speaker. Join us!

About the featured speaker:
Chantel Massey is a poet, author, teaching artist, editor, organizer, educator, practicing Afrofuturist, and avid anime lover from Indiana. Massey is a fellow of The Water Hole, VONA poetry resident, and has received support from La Maison Baldwin, Brooklyn Poets, Hurston/Writing Foundation, and Tin House. Massey received her MFA from Randolph College. She is a 2023 Best of the Net Award winner and 2020 Indiana Eugene and Marilyn Glick Author Awards Emerging Author finalist for her first collection of poetry, Bursting At The Seams (VK Press, 2018), a Midwest Black girl coming of age story. Massey is on a life-long mission, through poetry and the transformative power of storytelling, to make the pursuit and vision of what has not yet been, irresistible, to inspire curiosity, and challenge how we engage with the world. Her work has been published in the Indiana Review, Best of the Net Anthology, Turnpike Magazine, and in print and online coming elsewhere.
