ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:

Beth Bates, MA Counseling, MFA Creative Writing (Nonfiction). After a decade of helping folks in the mental health field, Beth decided to spend the next fifteen years carving out a second career in writing and editing. Writing restaurant reviews for local magazines led to copywriting and content strategy roles for a nonprofit, a large publisher, and a Pharma marketing agency. (Translation: Beth has produced heaps of banner ads, headlines, subheads, case studies, white papers, and video scripts, among other forgettable marketing matter.) A past prose editor for Butler’s Booth journal, she has essays in obscure but sweet little journals like Treehouse, MonkeyBicycle, and Used Furniture Review. Currently, Beth edits manuscripts and writes copy on a consulting basis; nothing fills her sails quite like cheering on other writers and supporting their creative pursuits.
