Are you intrigued by the power and impact of the very short story? Also known as flash fiction, sudden fiction, nano fiction, micro fiction or any number of other names, these stories usually range in word count from 100-1500 words. Have you discovered that these stories are not as easy to write as their length might suggest? If you’ve answered yes to my questions, come to this workshop. In the first half of the class, we’ll learn a bit about the history of the form, read story examples, and in response to prompts designed for these examples, we’ll write two drafts of our own short-short stories. In the second half of the class, we’ll do specific exercises to help focus the minimalistic story. After revising, time permitting, we’ll workshop the your revised drafts.
