Join Jerry Holt as you spend a session exploring the great openings of fiction–and finding out exactly what gives them their special power. How do they compel and hold the reader’s attention? How do they act as organizing devices for plot and character? What did James M. Cain, Ayn Rand, and Herman Melville know that we need to find out?  We’ll investigate–and then we’ll write our own knockout openings and share them with each other in what promises to be a very exciting workshop!
