Time:  1–4 p.m.

Are you between the ages of 13 and 18 and want to know about writing scripts? Then this workshop is for you! We will explore the basics of both playwriting and screenwriting in this 3 hour class, developing the different skills needed to write for theatre and film. Topics covered will include the foundations of dramatic structure, script analysis, and proper formatting. Students will leave this session having written scenes in both genres and with a toolkit designed to help them continue their work at home.

Elisabeth Speckman received her MFA in Fiction from Butler University, where she serves as the Director of the Butler Bridge Program and as an adjunct instructor, teaching courses in first year studies, academic writing, screenwriting, and media literacy. As an actor and director, she has been involved in theatrical productions throughout the Indianapolis area. Her written work appears in Midwestern Gothic, CHEAP POP, Pidgeonholes, Flash Fiction Magazine, and Stage It! 2: 30 Ten Minute Plays. Her plays have been produced in Tampa, Vancouver, New York City, and Los Angeles, as well as in the IndyFringe Festival and the IWC Short Play Festival. She recently adapted and sold her short play Brothers on a Hotel Bed to an independent LA filmmaker.
