Writer Sean Lovelace has years of experience as an award winning writer, critic, and editor in the genre of flash fiction. In this class, the students will write drafts—or begin to write drafts—of various types of flash fiction, from realism to conceptualism, and literary areas in-between. The primary emphasis is on writing, but then also publishing. As an editor, Sean Lovelace has seen and continues to see the current publishing trends in the flash fiction genre. In this class, students will practice bucking those trends, creating work outside the expected and therefore actually increasing chances for publication. By learning these new techniques, students will have the opportunity to create something unique—originality and verve are the keys to placing your words into the nation’s finest literary magazines.
