Did you ever read a news story or come across some historical tidbit and exclaim: “Now, THERE’s a novel waiting to be written!” Sure–we all have. And we’re RIGHT! Fiction offers us an opportunity to create a larger reality–a chance to take basic facts and use them imaginatively. Truman Capote’s “In Cold Blood” may be the standard-bearer, but authors from Theodore Dreiser to Jayne Anne Phillips have been turning real life into best-seller gold for years now. Join Jerry Holt (whose novel “The Killing of Strangers” is based on the Kent State shootings of 1970) as he shows you how to find stories, research them, and then let your imagination take over!
