Writing Your Nonfiction Book Proposal

Instructor: Brad King
Date: Saturday, April 25
Time: 1:30-4:30 p.m.
Location: IWC
Cost: $57 Nonmembers, $39 members, $33 student members/teacher members/senior members/military members
Walk-in registrations are Welcome!  However, the option of submitting your first 10 pages for evaluation has passed.

Whether you’re working on a memoir or a historical narrative, nonfiction book proposals require a bit more research and a bit less narrative writing than fiction proposals. In this three-hour workshop, aspiring nonfiction writers will learn the basic elements of a book proposal, discuss several narrative and research strategies for framing a story, and receive feedback on “the first ten pages” of a proposal’s writing sample. Students have the option of submitting the first ten double-spaced pages of their nonfiction manuscript for evaluation during the workshop. Just like agents, submissions longer than ten pages will not be evaluated. Please provide a sample at least 7 days before the workshop. Email to: thebradking@gmail.com.
